The newly established research group “Circulus: Opportunities and Challenges of Transformation towards a Sustainable Circular Economy” aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of the emergence and potential pathways of a circular economy in Europe and beyond. It asks how the circular economy is discursively constructed in Germany, Europe, and beyond and what material change processes are connected to it.
To achieve integrated insights into political, economic, and societal change processes, the group combines perspectives from political science, sociology, management, economics, and engineering/industrial ecology. The group is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and located in an exciting, international network of scholars from diverse disciplines.
The Research Group at Freiburg University invites applications for:
- 2 PhD positions analyzing “Discourses of the Circular Economy” (social/political sciences)
- 1 PhD position “Conceptualizing and Measuring Material Flows in a Circular Economy” (environmental engineering, industrial ecology, ecological economics, sustainability science or related)
- 1 Postdoc position “Conceptualizing Global Supply Chains in a Circular Economy” (qualified in management, economics or related with a focus on sustainable supply chains)
Positions are 4-year fixed term, starting March 2017.
