Special Issue Topics
This Special Issue is designed to contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms behind sustainable business models, which help to ensure sustainable solutions to social and environmental issues. This Special Issue team solicits a wide variety of sustainable business models, originated by (social) entrepreneurs, (non) profit organizations, sector related or governmental initiatives and other types of creative approaches to help to accelerate the transition to “Equitable, Sustainable, PosteFossil Carbon Societies.”
Theoretical, conceptual and empirical papers for this Special Issue are welcome. In addition, we welcome scholarly studies from a broad variety of methodologies (e.g. qualitative and quantitative), and from a broad variety of disciplines (e.g. management, entrepreneurship, environmental studies, organization theory, to mention a few). This CFPs is designed to challenge scholars to elaborate on, but not limit themselves to, the following research themes:
- Theme 1: Successful sustainable business models
- Theme 2: Value creation challenges of sustainable business models
- Theme 3: Variety of origins of sustainable business models
- Theme 4: Social entrepreneurship
- Theme 5: Business models for a circular economy
- Theme 6: Creativity in applying sustainable business models
- Theme 7: Sustainability and the roles of government
Special Issue Timeline
- 31 March 2016: deadline to submit an extended abstract of 1,000 words for a Special Issue seminar in Brussels, participation is encouraged, but not mandatory; abstracts should be send to Nikolay Dentchev (nikolay.dentchev@gmail.com)
- 13 May 2016: one-day seminar on the topic of the Special Issue at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium
- 01 June 2016: extended abstract deadline; all authors are invited to submit extended abstracts of 1,000-1,500 words of their proposed papers to Nikolay Dentchev (nikolay.dentchev@gmail.com)
- 01 July 2016: feedback on extended abstracts
- 01 October 2016: manuscript submission deadline
- 01 May 2017: peer review, paper revision and final decision notification
- 01 August 2017: Special Issue online publication
